On April 22–24, the Head of the Laboratory of Genetics and Physiology, chief researcher Dr Rita Armonienė participated in the partner meeting/workshop “Research collaboration between Sweden, Ukraine, Moldova and Lithuania” of the project “Portfolio of technology transfer for acceleration and improvement of wheat breeding activities in Ukraine” funded by the Swedish Institute (SI) in Chisinau, Moldova. Project partners from Sweden, Lithuania and five Ukrainian scientific institutions and Moldovan scientists from the Institute of Genetics, Physiology and Plant Protection (IGFPP) participated in the meeting.

The partners presented reports about the institutions they represent, their activities, and ongoing scientific research. Scientist from LAMMC presented an oral report “An overview of plant genetic and physiology research activities at the Lithuanian Research Centre for Agriculture and Forestry”. During the meeting, the progress of the project, work packages and completed activities were discussed. Further possibilities of cooperation between Moldova, Lithuania, Sweden, and Ukraine were discussed, and it was planned to submit a project application together. The Institute of Genetics, Physiology and Plant Protection was visited in Chisinau, including laboratories, breeding and experimental fields of medicinal and grain crops, orchards, and vineyards.
