On March 6, the international knowledge transfer workshop “Alternative plant protection measures for apple trees” was held at the Institute of Horticulture, LAMMC. Programme
The participants of the event were welcomed, and the opening speech was given by Dr Vidmantas Bendokas, Deputy Director for Institute of Horticulture Activities.
During the seminar, the following topics were discussed:
- innovative and sustainable horticulture in the Nordic and Baltic countries, activities of the project InNoBaHort (Dr Neringa Rasiukevičiūtė, LAMMC),
- the use of physical plant protection means as alternatives to chemicals against pests and diseases, and application of VIPS forecasting models (Prof. Dr Arne Stensvand, NIBIO),
- RIMpro forecasts-based plant protection system in apple orchards (PhD student Regina Rancane, LAMMC and Institute of Plant Protection Research “Agrihorts” of Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies),
- plant protection actualities of apple trees in Lithuania (Dr Alma Valiuškaitė, LAMMC),
- agroecological aspects of apple tree growing in Lithuania (Dr Juozas Lanauskas, LAMMC).
The presentations were followed by a discussion on current issues of sustainable horticulture.
