The XTRACT aims to introduce a new concept of the Zero Emission Mine of the Future by developing and validating innovative micro-invasive technologies for sustainable and decarbonised extraction.
The XTRACT will add a highly innovative new alternative to the toolbox for stock and waste assessment, reducing pressure on the resources and contributing to the realisation of EU Climate Neutrality Goals with a significant benefit of emission reduction.
The XTRACT will introduce low-TRL green technologies of phytoextraction and phytoremediation, particularly suitable for mining waste piles and abandoned sites, which are a solution not only for mine waste remediation, but also for the extraction and recovery of various precious metals.
XTRACT Project Webinar Recap: Novel Phytoremediation Solution and Concurrent Metal Phytomining using Trees and Plants as Part of the Circular Economy
We're thrilled to report that the 1st XTRACT webinar, co-organised by TUC & LAMMC and supported by ACCELI, was a tremendous success! With over 55 participants joining us, the discussion was lively and engaging.
Our expert speakers delivered fascinating insights into innovative phytoremediation and phytomining strategies that are transforming how we approach environmental clean-up. The session sparked dynamic conversations about how trees and plants can simultaneously clean polluted sites while recovering valuable metals and metalloids, perfectly embodying circular economy principles.
Participants were particularly engaged during the presentations on metal-accumulating trees and plants, with many thoughtful questions and comments highlighting the sustainable potential of these groundbreaking environmental solutions.
The XTRACT project continues to pioneer the concept of the Zero Emission Mine of the Future, developing microinvasive technologies for sustainable extraction while contributing to EU Climate Neutrality Goals. This webinar reinforced our commitment to introducing low-TRL green technologies of phytoextraction and phytoremediation for mining waste remediation and precious metal recovery.
Thank you to all attendees for making this such an interactive and productive session! Stay tuned for more updates on our innovative work in sustainable mining and environmental restoration.
