On September 30 – October 4, the Senior Researcher Dr Rita Armonienė, Head of the Laboratory of Genetics and Physiology, Institute of Agriculture, LAMMC participated in the COST Action CA22136 project “Pan-European Network of Green Deal Agriculture and Forestry Earth Observation Science” (PANGEOS) summer school-courses “Uncertainty analysis and protocol standardisation assessment on novel and operational hyperspectral data products”. The event took place at the Faculty of Land Reclamation and Environmental Engineering of the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (USAMV) of Bucharest, Romania.
During the training, participants were introduced to remote sensing (RS) technology and its application, field reflection spectroscopy, its principles and measurement methods. Special attention was paid to the concept of uncertainty and its research methods and strategies using remote monitoring tools. Practical sessions focused on understanding, interpreting, and analysing hyperspectral RS data.
The participants also had the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the structure of USAMV, its ongoing research, and visit the experimental/training garden and greenhouses of the Laboratory of Plant Biotechnology and Physiology of the Faculty of Horticulture. They also sampled exotic fruits such as kiwifruits, jojoba, and pawpaw, whose cultivation techniques suitable for Romania’s climate as well as their nutritional properties and processing methods are being investigated at the USAMV.
