On September 22–27, Dr. Modupe Doyeni, Senior Researcher at the Department of Agrobiology, Institute of Agriculture, LAMMC, attended the 8th International Conference on Microbial Diversity 2025 in Rome, Italy. The event brought together leading scientists worldwide to exchange knowledge and explore microbial research as a driving force for solutions to global agricultural challenges. Special attention was paid to the contribution of microorganisms to soil health restoration and waste utilisation through bioconversion, emphasising their role in sustainable agriculture. Key topics included microbial technologies for the Next Green Revolution, microbial breeding and genetic engineering to enhance crop resilience, and circular economy approaches to transform agricultural and organic waste into bioresources.
Dr. Modupe Doyeni presented a poster “Soil prokaryotic response to animal manure digestate fertilization over time in a humid continental climate”. The scientist also participated in consortium building activities with researchers and institutions related to his research in the areas of soil health and sustainable waste valorisation.
The scientific visit was funded by the NextGenerationEU programme, project No. 10-038-T-0302.
