Internship in the New Mexico State University

Internship in the New Mexico State University

The internship started from 4th October 2022 until 10th January 2023 in the College of Engineering Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering New Mexico State University, USA. This internship is part of Muhammad Ayaz PhD studies and is funded by LAMMC Internship program for doctoral students.

The experimental design consists of two soils (sandy loam, clay loam), three biochar treatments (no biochar, manure biochar, wood biochar), and four metals addition treatments (water only, micronutrient addition, heavy metal addition, and micronutrient + heavy metal addition) with 4 replicates each = 2*3*4*4 = 96. Each jar will contain 100 g dried/sieved soil, 5 g biochar (if adding), and 8 ml solution (to approximate a ~16 wt.% soil moisture content, one would add 4 ml of the micronutrient or heavy metal solution with any remaining being a water addition). Jars would be weighed after assembly and water added to maintain the weight ~once/week during the incubation.
