LAMMC Researchers Participated in the EUFRIN Board Meeting in Switzerland

On 10–11 September 2026, LAMMC representatives Vidmantas Bendokas and Darius Kviklys participated in the Board Meeting of the European Fruit Research Institutes Network (EUFRIN), held at the Agroscope research centres in Zurich and Wädenswil, Switzerland.

EUFRIN brings together European research institutes and universities engaged in fruit research, experimental development and innovation. The network promotes the exchange of scientific knowledge and best practices, strengthens cooperation between research institutions, coordinates joint research activities, and facilitates the development of international projects and applications for European funding.

EUFRIN activities are organised through thematic working groups addressing key issues in fruit research and production, including cultivar breeding and evaluation, fruit quality, plant protection, irrigation, digitalisation and robotics, as well as other relevant topics.

This year’s EUFRIN meeting brought together around 30 fruit research experts from across Europe. During the Board Meeting, participants discussed the network’s priorities, reviewed the results of its working groups, explored opportunities for international cooperation, and addressed current issues relevant to the European fruit sector.

The programme also included presentations on the Swiss fruit research and advisory system and the activities of various research and advisory institutions. Participants visited field trials and learned more about ongoing breeding activities.

Participation in the EUFRIN network provides opportunities to exchange knowledge, develop new international partnerships and strengthen cooperation between European research institutions, contributing to the development of a more sustainable, innovative and competitive European fruit sector.
