On September 17–19, consortium partners from 18 countries and 34 organizations gathered for the 1st annual meeting of the project “Breeding European Legumes for Increased Sustainability” (BELIS), funded by Horizon Europe programme. The event was hosted by project partner the Flanders Research Institute for Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food (ILVO) in Melle, near Ghent, Belgium.
At the meeting, LAMMC was represented by the chief researcher Dr. Rita Armonienė from the Laboratory of Genetics and Physiology and senior researcher Dr. Eglė Norkevičienė from the Department of Grass Breeding, Institute of Agriculture.
During the three days, the partners exchanged insights on the first-year results of BELIS activities, covering 14 crop and grass legume species in 7 work packages. The meeting also focused on the discussion and finalisation of the next year’s project milestones, objectives, and methodologies. This included a visit to ILVO’s experimental fields and infrastructure.
