Admission to PhD programmes

Studying at the Lithuanian Research Centre for Agriculture and Forestry Centre (LAMMC) is worth it because of good career propects.

PhD students can:

  • work with competent researchers and gain new knowledge from them;
  • contribute to creating a sustainable future, propose and implement innovations in the fields of agriculture and forestry;
  • possibility for additional workload (up to 0.5 FTE);
  • additional funding for internships;
  • a scholarship for the full duration of the study period.

Submission of applications for participation in the competition (Agronomy and Forestry PhD studies):

  • for applicants who have obtained a master’s degree from foreign higher education and research institutions, whose qualifications require official recognition through document evaluation: from 10 April to 8 May 2026;
  • ror applicants who have obtained a master’s degree from Lithuanian higher education and research institutions, or whose qualifications are subject to automatic academic recognition: from 10 May to 17 July 2026.

LAMMC accepts applications for doctoral studies in the following fields of study:

The doctoral studies provided by Centre conform to the contemporary problematics of agricultural and forestry sciences, up-to-date methods and facilities are used in research work. Studies and research work are headed by experienced researchers. Centre’s researchers of respective fields participate in the development of curricular and their subject programmes, take part in doctoral studies' committees and thesis defence boards.

  • Application to participate in the competition
  • A diploma certifying a master’s degree or an equivalent qualification, and its supplement / appendix; applicants who obtained their education abroad must also submit a certificate of academic recognition of the qualification in the Republic of Lithuania, or submit the documents to the International Cooperation Department of Vytautas Magnus University for qualification assessment (if the qualification recognition number is not obtained, the applicant’s application will not be considered)
  • Two academic recommendations from researchers
  • Letter of motivation (only for Agronomy field PhD students)
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • A list of no more than 5 research publications (with full bibliographic references) and their copies; if an article has not yet been published, a certificate issued by the editorial board of the academic journal confirming that the article has been accepted for publication (after the peer-review procedure), together with its manuscript, must be submitted
  • A copy of the passport’s personal data page or a copy of the identity card
  • Documents confirming a change of surname, if not all submitted documents bear the same surname
  • Other documents which an applicant wishes to submit
