August 21–23, researcher Dr. Laisvūnė Duchovskienė from Lithuanian Research Centre for Agriculture and Forestry, Institute of Horticulture, Laboratory of Plant Protection, participated in training in Weiz, Austria.
“During the training we were introduced to the history of Pessl Instruments and the equipment produced. Most of the time was dedicated to getting to know and learning how to use the iMETOS iSCOUT®. iMETOS iSCOUT® is a combination of hardware and software solutions for remote monitoring of different agricultural and industrial insects. The iMETOS iSCOUT®, is an insect trap with integrated electronics and sticky plate. In the field or garden, the device is self-sufficient, as it is powered by a battery. 10 MP camera takes high-resolution pictures of the sticky plate within the iSCOUT® trap. Images are sent via GPRS to the FieldClimate.com platform where they are analyzed with automatic detection of pest” – Dr. Laisvūnė Duchovskienė said.
The results are visible on web or mobile devices. We also heard Dr. Kristina Pilz reports on the possibilities of using this trap, how pheromones are put in place and how they are changed, and how pests can be identified and used to identify the most harmful pests in the garden.
This research was funded by the project No 09.3.3-LMTK-712 “Modernization and development of information, consulting and training electronic services in the field of integrated plant protection” from J. Gudinas company's funds.
