Scientific research as well as (product development) experimental production is carried out in the Institute of Horticulture. The experimental basis of the Institute encompasses gardens, nursery gardens, orchards and greenhouses where fruits and vegetables are grown for the production of healthy and natural food products of exceptional quality. The quality control test results of the production meets quality standards established by European Union – the quality of the products is confirmed by issued certificates. Whereas, the national product quality certificate confirms that products meets specifications of the national agricultural and food quality system and gives a right to mark such products with a national product quality mark “KOKYBĖ”.
On 11 April 2014, in Babtai (Kaunas district), LAMMC Institute of Horticulture opened a commercial pavilion offering Lithuanian vegetables and fruits. The shop is located next to the nursery of the Institute of Horticulture (near the Kaunas-Klaipeda motorway), giving people a one-stop option to buy seedlings, seeds, fruit, and vegetables. It sells products of the Institute of Horticulture as well as goods developed in collaboration between scientists and entrepreneurs.
